Kobus Rudolph is the founder and CEO of Radio Ripple 90.5 FM. He grew up in Pretoria in a home where music, drama and literature was part of his life. He taught Northern-Sotho – one of South Africa’s indigenous languages - at a high school in Centurion. In 1984 he started his broadcast career as a radio presenter/producer for the National Radio Broadcaster. Later he went to television as producer and director at the department Light music and variety for the South African Broadcasting Corporation –SABC.

Reach the world on a normal, everyday radio station In 1992 he realised that there was a need for "radio for the commu-nity" and on the 1 August 1995 Radio Rippel 90.5 FM went on-air in Pretoria.

"Although 90.5 FM is a “secular” radio station, our goal is to reach the unreached and to spread the Gospel. Rippel 90.5 FM is good, clean, family radio. We broadcast, news, sports, pop, rock and MOR music, but the difference is that Rippel 90.5 FM is based on Christian principles. It is here where one reaches the world. We want to give hope, life and an expectation for the future.”

“People should have an angler’s outlook on life – have an expectation for the future…”

(Sakkie Steyl – South African businessman: January 2000) He said : "You see, I am a very keen salt water angler. Many times, you wake up early in the morning, and go out to try to fish in wind and rain. Many times with no success. The next morning you rise again, because you believe : " Today is the day. Today you’re catching the big one!" "Regardless of what happened previously. That is the expectation I am talking about!"

In the past 11 years the station has grown from a handful of supporters in 1995, to between 70 to 80 thousand loyal listeners daily.

Kobus’s inspiration in his life is his wife Gretha. "I am a family man. I just love my wife and children and my family is my best and most important friends. Gretha and I got married three months after we met. We would have done it quicker if our wedding rings could have been made in time. Twenty seven years later... and we’ve just been blessed with a super marriage!." They have two children - Liezel(24) and Conrad(21).

There is NO excuse in life for not spending QUANTITY time with your family !

"Quality time" is an excuse the psychologists' thought out for their clients to make them feel better for not spending time with their families"

“No-one ever, on their deathbed has said : “I wish I’ve spent more time at the office!”

"I love spending time with my wife and children. I like being with them. I believe in "quantity" time! Okay… quantity quality time. Is one suppose to spend quality or quantity time with the Lord ?Then I also love a good barbeque, at least 4 times per week! and dining with close friends."

Kobus loves the outdoors., rock and surf, fresh water and bass fishing. He was also involved in the Gauteng North Rock and Surf Angling Union. He is a keen bird and nature photographer and a big supporter of Nikon – the ultimate in photography. His mission in life is to reach the ultimate goal that God has for his life. "To fulfil one’s calling, to help make it possible in my wife’s and children’s lives, as well as in other people’s." "God, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit — His love for us endures forever and ever!"

The best book I’ve read, and I read it again and again – apart from the Bible, is Steve Farrar’s: “Finishing Strong.” It is a must read for every man! “You see, in Christian life, it is not how you start that matters. It’s how you end!” (Steve Farrar – Finishing Strong. )
